Space Scientist Dr Satish Dhawan remembered in his Alma Mater on birth anniversary

Born on 25^th September , 1920, coinciding with the year of establishment of the SCD Govt. College, Ludhiana and having studied here in 1934 in his FSc class when his father was a sessions judge here at Ludhiana ,this brilliant space scientist was remembered at his Alma Mater library where college has displayed his picture conspicuously. In the brief get-together of some teachers and alumni and present students, Principal Dr (Prof.) Tanveer Likhari  said that the college has great legacy of it’s stalwart Alumni like Satish Chander Dhawan .Bharpur Singh,librarian of the college said that soon an interactive session  of students will be started in library on life and works of Dr Dhawan. Dr. (Prof) Nitin Sood of Physics Department said that for inculcation of scientific temper in students it’s necessary that science teaching be encouraged right from the elementary level. Brij Bhushan Goyal, Alumni Association Org Sec asked the State Government & GOI to suitably fund college for upgrading it’s science labs to the world standard in tune with the glory earned by this brilliant Alumnus Satish Chander Dhawan as his name was prefixed to the college in 1976 at the insistence of the then CM of the State Giani Zail Singh. Other Alumni who paid tributes to Dr Dhawan are Jagjit S Sidhu,Dr Tara Singh Kamal, Principal Dr(Prof.) Kamal Kishore, Dr Harblas , K B Singh, Prof P K Sharma,Tejinder Dua,O P Verma, Anil Rampal,Asim Thapar ( all Alumni). Dr T S Kamal (Doctorate in Engineering ) who graduated in BSc in 1962 has provided an informative flipbook on Dr  Satish Dhawan to the college .
