Death of Padma Shri Keki N.Daruwala ,IPS condoled by Alumni of SCD Govt College, Ludhiana
Alumni Association of SCD Govt College, Ludhiana has condoled the death of Padam Shri Keki N.Daruwala ,IPS who was one of brilliant illustrious Alumni of this great college. Keki spent 6 years in the college as a student in the 1950s, taught English literature for a while and then was selected as an IPS. Since his college days he had love for literature and a niche for writing poetry and published many articles in the college magazine ‘The Sutlej’. He has written 12 books and his poetry became part of curriculum in schools too. He was awarded by Sahitya Academy in the year 2014. An IPS officer of repute and integrity, he often contributed to many newspapers on many current issues facing our nation.
Those alumni who prominently condoled his death include an English poet Prof Ashok Kapoor, Surinder Singh Bhogal, Shiv Dular Singh Dhillon IAS, Prof P K Sharma ,Col Pardeep Jawanda, Principal Manjit Singh Sandhu and K B Singh . A former principal Dr Dharam Singh Sandhu and now officiating Principal Dr Prof Satya Rani has sent their deep condolences at the demise of the finest and brilliant alumni of the college who made the alma mater proud. Brij Bhushan Goyal, organizing secretary of the college Alumni Association said:
“Keki Daruwala last visited Ludhiana college in the year 2019 when he had recalled his 1950s era when teachers came to the college in black gowns. In his interaction then,he had asked students to memorize the poetry they loved. Keki Daruwala in May this year sent his 12 books authored by him for college Alumni Authored Book shelves through his daughter Rookzain Sorabji. Void caused by Keki’s demise is difficult to fill as he was a down to earth person besides keeping elegance as a literary person and a police officer.”
